About
Hi, I'm Marcus 👋
I’ve always been drawn to the place where ideas become visible. (I also like love, kindness, and humor.)
A website, a logo, a page layout, an illustration, a small animation — each one is a way of helping something become clearer. That’s the part of creative work that keeps me interested: taking what feels scattered, unfinished, complex, or hard to explain and shaping it into something people can understand, trust, and use.
Since 2008, I’ve worked with eSiteful on websites, brands, graphics, illustrations, animations, and digital systems for a wide range of organizations. Some are large and technical. Some are small and personal. Some are mission-driven, civic-minded, faith-based, or community-focused. The common thread is that each one has something important to communicate.
I tend to think like both a designer and an organizer. I care about how something looks, but also how it works. I notice typography, color, rhythm, and visual tone — but I also care about information architecture; structure, language, hierarchy, and whether a visitor can find what they need without having to dig.
Good creative work, to me, is not decoration. It is clarification.
It helps an organization feel more like itself. It gives shape to the message. It creates confidence. It makes the next step easier. It brings order without flattening the personality out of the work.
I’m especially energized by projects that require patience and discernment: old websites with years of accumulated content, organizations with multiple audiences, brands that need a clearer voice, or ideas that are meaningful but not yet well-formed. I like the process of listening, sorting, refining, designing, and building until the work begins to feel inevitable — like it finally found its proper shape.
At the heart of it, I’m interested in creative work that serves people well.
Work that is thoughtful.
Work that is useful.
Work that has warmth.
Work that helps good, truthful things be seen more clearly.
